T-Birds pick up pair of wins in triangular

PRATT — Slipping past Pratt Community College in five sets, and then sweeping Independence Community College, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team picked up two wins in a triangular Wednesday night.
Cloud County dropped the first set of the Jayhawk Conference match to Pratt, 25-23.
The Thunderbirds won the second set 25-18 and took the third set 25-14 to go up 2-1.
Pratt evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set.
Cloud County downed the Beavers 15-9 in the fifth and deciding set.
The T-Birds evened their conference record at 4-4 with the win. The Beavers, 4-13 overall, fell to 0-8 in conference play.
Cloud County squeezed out a 30-28 win over Independence in the opening set of a non-conference match.
The T-Birds, 16-6 overall, won the second set 25-15 and capped off the sweep with a 25-14 victory in the third set.
