T-Birds roll past Larks, 6-2

HESSTON — Freshman Franciele Cupertino scored four goals to lead the Cloud County Community College women's soccer team to a 6-2 victory over Hesston College on Saturday.
Cloud County, with the win, completed the regular season sweep of Hesston and moved its record to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the Jayhawk Conference Western Division.
The Thunderbirds outscored the Larks 15-3 in the two matchups.
Cloud County grabbed a quick 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Fernanda Peinado 10 minutes into the match.
Just a minute later, Thaina Cavalcante scored, off an assist from Maria Barbosa, to give the T-Birds a 2-0 cushion.
Cupertino's first goal, 10 minutes into the second half, made it 3-0.
Hesston, 0-11 overall and 0-8 in the conference, closed the gap to 3-1 when Myra Gonda scored an unassisted goal in the 64th minute.
Cupertino answered a minute later  with an unassisted goal, and Cloud County led 4-1.
A third goal by Cupertino, off an assist from Izabella Christina, in the 77th minute put the T-Birds on top 5-1.
Kassandra Ayala scored for Hesston in the 78th minute off an assist from Gonda.
Cupertino capped off the scoring in the 82nd minute.
Christina recorded three assists in the win for the T-Birds.
Cloud County got off 23 shots on goal in the match. Hesston had three.
