Thunderbirds fall to 22nd-ranked Colby

COLBY — In a Jayhawk Conference dual decided by bonus points, 22nd-ranked Colby Community College defeated the 25th-ranked Cloud County Community College wrestling team 25-19 on Wednesday night.
Each team won five matches in the dual.
Colby recorded three pins, to just one for Cloud County.
Cloud County would pick up wins in the first two matches.
Blayne Harris, ranked ninth in the 125-pound class, won a 19-5 major decision over Colby's Andy Rojas.
Blake Leiszler then pinned eighth-ranked Rhett Miner in the 133-pound class to give Cloud County a 10-0 lead.
The Thunderbirds would suffer losses in the next three matches.
Joel Ostrom was pinned by ninth-ranked Rush Fannon in 141-pound class.
Nate Normandin, 149 pounds, lost a 12-0 major decision to Kaena DeSantos.
Tristin Hauck was pinned by Dino Baldes in the 157-pound class, and Colby led 16-13.
Cloud County closed the gap to 16-13 when Quentin Jiner defeated Kody Hahn 10-3 in the 165-pound class.
Colby posted consecutive wins to go up 25-13.
Dante Harper, 174 pounds, lost by fall to Austin Hacker.
Micah Sterling fell 12-5 to Aiden Smith.
Cloud County got wins in the final two matches.
Kevin Murry pulled out a 19-14 victory over Sean Jackson in the 197-pound class.
Elwin Trejo won a 3-0 decision over Jesse Quilmaco in the 285-pound class.
