Thunderbirds open indooor season

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Cloud County Community College men's and women's track and field teams opened the indoor season at the Graduate Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Emmanuel Wanga recorded two first-place finishes for the Cloud County men.
Wanga won the 400-meter dash in 48.67 and the 600-meter dash in 1:20.81
Alphonse Igish placed seventh in the 400 (50.12).
Ephraim Lerkin finished fourth in the 600 (1:23.79). Jonathan Dende was fifth (1:23.84) and Raziel Patton was sixth (1:24.08).
Cloud County's 4x400 relay team finished second (3:18.24).
Frieder Fornasari placed third in the 60-meter dash (6.89).
The Thunderbirds had Bradley Davies-Pughe finish fifth in the long jump (23-0). Timothy Nyinguan was sixth (22-2 ½).
Also placing fifth were Edwin Kipainoi in the 5,000-meter run (5:45.18) and Ben Okraska in the pole vault (14-51/4).
Mohammed Ahmed finished sixth in the weight throw (63-5).
Deandre Elliott finished eighth in the triple jump (37-4 ½).
The Cloud County women had Leonie Beau place second in the 400-meter dash (57.77) and the 600 (1:35.69).
Pamela Milano was third in the 600 (1:36.64).
Cloud County's 4x400 relay team placed third (4:00.32).
Isila Apkrup placed fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.83).
Melody Ochana finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:23.14). Abigail Fisher was fifth (2:26.13) and Passion Crews was sixth (2:27.19).
Vanessa Mercera placed seventh in the high jump (5-5).
Placing eight were Faithlyn Irving in the triple jump (36-10 ½) and Hollie Stewart in the shot put (51-11 ¼).
