A Pinata and a Party! Dane Hansen Foundation Offers Live Theater at CES

Posted

Concordia Elementary Students experienced some theater magic on Wednesday with the musical “Dale! Dale! Dale!” a story of a pinata, a party, and plenty of fun. CES students were offered this special treat with the Young Audience Outreach Tour (YAOT) musical performance.

Thanks to generous funding from the Dane Hansen Foundation, CES students experienced high-quality live theater in their own community!

About the Show: “Dale! Dale! Dale!”

The musical tells the heartwarming and relatable story of Tommy, a lonely boy who makes a surprisingly unique new friend—a piñata!—just in time for his 8th birthday party. Through colorful storytelling and engaging music, the performance explores themes that touch every student's heart:

  • Family & Cultural Traditions: Traditions weave us together like a cozy blanket, helping us build a strong identity and a sense of community.
  • Making New Friends: Friendship can sometimes feel tricky, but opening up helps us discover how much we really have in common with others.
  • Being Brave & Honest: Doing the right thing can be scary, but honesty and supportive friends make those tough choices a lot easier.

Taking Responsibility: Growing up means taking care of the things, people—and piñatas!—that we love. Throughout the show, Tommy learns that we show love and respect by how we treat others.

Bringing Art and Learning Together

For 43 seasons, the Young Audience Outreach Tour has traveled across nine states, bringing top-notch arts education to more than 400,000 young people.

Teachers at Concordia Elementary were encouraged to talk about the show's fun and meaningful themes with their classes before the performance, giving students a head start on connecting the story to their own lives and classrooms.

Thank you to the Dane Hansen Foundation, for providing CES students an opportunity to celebrate friendship, bravery, and community with this musical performance.
