CCCC baseball wins series 3-1 over Hutchinson CC

Facing off with Hutchinson in a KJCCC showdown, the Cloud County Community College baseball team picked up a 3-1 series win over the Blue Dragons.

In game one, the T-Birds lost 2-1 on the road.

Hutchinson scored first with a solo run in the first inning. Cloud tied the game with an Austin Coyle triple in the top of the third. Hutch took the lead in the bottom of the third and would hold on to win.

Stocton Timbrook (1-1) was given the loss.

Coyle had two hits with an RBI. Nolan Freund had one hit and Easton Mould scored one run on one walk.

In game two, the T-Birds won 13-5.

Cloud scored first with a Freund double, before Hutchinson took a 2-1 lead with a two-run home run. Cloud scored two runs in the second, and Hutch countered with two runs of its own in the third. The T-Birds exploded for six runs scored in the fifth, and four runs in the sixth. After one Blue Dragon run in the eighth, the T-Birds won 13-5.

Noah Bourgeois (4-1) earned the win with one run allowed on three hits with nine strikeouts.

Matthew Evans, Noah Konings, and Mould each had two hits, and a combined five runs scored with five RBIs.

In game three, the T-Birds won 5-2 at home.

The Blue Dragons scored their only two runs in the first inning. Cloud scored one run in the third, and two runs in the fourth to take the lead, 3-2. Two more runs in the sixth gave Cloud the win.

Caden Marcum (3-2) earned the win with two runs allowed on one hit with 10 strikeouts.

Mould had two runs scored on three hits.

Kaden Budke, Lucas Laukkanen, and Joey Marino also scored.

In game four, the T-Birds won 16-4.

Cloud scored first, with three runs scored in the third. Hutch knocked the lead down to one with two runs in the top of the fourth, before the T-Birds roared for four runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 7-2. The Cloud offense kept the pressure on by scoring one run in the fifth, three runs in the sixth, two runs in the seventh, and three runs in the eighth, as Hutchinson only scored one run in the sixth and one run in the seventh.

Jack McIntosh (3-1) earned the win.

Konings had three runs scored on two hits.

Evans had two runs scored on three hits

Freund, Coyle, and Vasya Seymour each scored two runs.
