Clifton-Clyde track competes at Concordia and Wakefield Invites

WAKEFIELD — After withdrawing from the Bennington Invite due to weather concerns, the Clifton-Clyde track team split and competed in two separate meets. Some members competed in the Concordia Invite, although most competed in the Wakefield Invitational.

In the Concordia Invite, Sevy Wurtz, Jordi Fahey, Calyn Baker, Brady Pruser, and Locklund Feight competed in a combined 10 events.

Wurtz got first in the triple jump with a distance of 36’ 4”, second in the 100m with a time of 12.95, second in the 200m with a time of 27.28, and third in the long jump with a distance of 18’.

Fahey got first in the pole vault, her lone event, with a height of 10’.

Baker got fourth in the discus with a distance of 114’ 9’, and seventh in the shot put with a distance of 32’ 8”.

Pruser finished second in the pole vault, his sole event, with a height of 13’ 6”.

Feight finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 47’ 0.5”, and ninth in the discus with a distance of 125’ 9”.

In the Wakefield Invite, the Eagles earned 26 top-three finishes and took home 13 gold medals. Both the boys team and the girls team earned a second-place finish.

100 meter dash— Boys: Landon Begnoche finished third with a time of 12.2 seconds, and Trenton Benne finished sixth with a time of 12.37. Kole Riedy of Rural Vista finished first with a time of 11.49. Girls: Olyvia Sanders got sixth with a time of 15.03. Kaimey  Evans of Rural Vista got first with a time of 13.53.

200m dash:—Boys: Stryker Affolter finished fifth with a time of 26.87. Grant Eskeldson of Rural Vista finished first with a time of 24.71. Girls: Sanders got sixth with a time of 32.41. Abigail Duff of Wakefield got first with a time of 28.46.

400m dash— Boys: Colt Germann finished fifth with a time of 59.93. Riedy (RV) got first with a time of 53.17.

800m run—Boys: Begnoche earned gold with a time of 2:14.93. Cohen Girard earned third with a time of 2:18.41. Girls: Gracen Sacco finished second with a time of 2:43.6. Lilli Stilwell of Rural Vista was first with a time of 2:40.28. 

1,600m run—Boys: Begnoche secured another gold medal with a time of 5:01.21. Girard was second with a time of 5:01.53. Girls: Addie Walter finished fourth with a time of 7:14.27. Kassidy Jahnke of St. Xavier was first with a time of 6:38.53.

3,200m run— Boys: Girard earned gold with a time of 11:25.16. Girls: Tragen Kieffer was second with a time of 16:52.77. Sarai Mendoza of Wakefield was first with a time of 15:49.84.

100m hurdles— Girls: Scout Skocny finished first with a time of 19.3.

300m hurdles— Girls: Paige Joy finished first with a time of 55.44.

4x100m relay— The boys team finished second with a time of 49.03. Rural Vista was first with a time of 46.98. The girls team finished second with a time of 57:69. Wakefield was first with a time of 56.82.

4x400m relay— The boys team finished second with a time of 3:52.77. Rural Vista was first with a time of 3:49.52. 

4x800m relay— The boys team took home gold with a time of 9:01.14. The girls team finished first with a time of 12:11.22.

High jump— Girls: Paige Joy finished first with a height of 4’ 10”.

Pole vault— Girls: Kiersten Robbins and Addie Walters tied for first with a height of 7’.

Long jump— Boys: Luke Nobert took home gold with a jump of 19’ 3”. Trenton Benne was fourth with a distance of 18’ 2.5”. 

Triple jump— Girls: Piper Lawson finished third with a distance of 28’ 3”. Caroline Thurlow of Wakefield finished first with a distance of 30’ 1.75”.

Shot put—Boys: Ryan LeClair got third with a throw of 38’ 1”. Kingsley Smith of Wakefield got first with a throw of 45’. 3”. Girls: Sydney Huncovsky finished second with a throw of 32’ 2”. Annika Wernecke got third with a throw of 26’ 11”. Journey Peterson of Rural Vista got first with a throw of 33’ 10”.

Discus—Boys: LeClair got sixth with a throw of 88’ 3.5”. Smith (Wakefield) got first with a throw of 140’ 4”. Girls: Huncovsky finished first with a throw of 89’ 6”. Wernecke was fifth with a throw of 72’ 6”.

Javelin— Boys: Ryan Coles got sixth with a throw of 96’ 2”. Andrew Calvert of Rural Vista got first with a throw of 137’ 10”. Girls: Olyvia Sanders was first with a throw of 72’ 6”.
