Matching up with Garden City to finish the regular season, the Cloud County baseball team swept the Broncbusters in a four-game series.
In game one at home, the T-Birds won 11-3.
After falling behind 2-0, Cloud roared for a four-run second inning and a one run third inning to take the 5-2 lead. After Garden City scored a run in the fourth, Cloud closed the door with five runs in the bottom of the fourth with an insurance run in the fifth to take game one.
Noah Bourgeois (6-1) earned the win with one run allowed on two hits with three strikeouts.
Joey Marino had three runs scored on two hits with two RBIs.
In game two, the T-Birds won 13-0.
Keeping the momentum, the T-Birds led 6-0 after two innings, and with a six-run fourth inning, took a 12-0 lead. A solo run in the sixth ended the game 13-0 as the T-Birds only gave up two hits all game.
Cole Linton (6-1) earned the win with two hits allowed with four strikeouts in five innings.
Matthew Evans had three runs scored on one hit.
Austin Coyle, Nolan Freund, and Vasya Seymour each scored two runs on a combined eight hits with six RBIs.
In game three at Garden City, the T-Birds won 10-3.
Not letting the four-hour drive and two days’ rest impact their momentum, the T-Birds bats stayed hot. The offensive game that saw at least one run in every inning started with a solo Cloud run in the first. With two more Cloud runs in the second, the Broncbusters got on the board. By the end of the fifth inning, the T-Birds led 8-3, thanks to four runs in the fourth, and with two more runs in the sixth to take the win.
Kai Rempel (4-0) earned the win with one run allowed on three hits with four strikeouts.
Freund scored three runs on two hits, and Marino scored two runs on three hits with two RBIs.
In game four, the T-Birds won 7-6.
The Garden City bats came out on fire, with the Broncbusters leading 5-1 after the first inning. The T-birds would slowly chip away at the lead. Entering the ninth inning down by one, after Marino got walked, Cam MaCleod hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to take the 7-6 lead, with Stocton Timbrook closing the door to earn the save.
Hayden Malaise (1-1) earned the win with one strikeout, with no hits or walks allowed in 0.2 innings.
Tony Crow had two runs on two hits, including a home run with three RBIs.
Splitting the non-conference season series with Southeast Community College, the T-Bird baseball team fell 6-5 on a three-run ninth inning from the Bobcats.
The Bobcats came out strong, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Cloud would score one run in the bottom of the first, and two runs in the second to tie the game 3-3. After four innings of scoreless baseball, the T-Birds had another two-run inning with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. Southeast would rally for a three-run ninth inning, fueled by four walks and with two outs and the bases loaded, a two-run single by the Bobcats gave them a 6-5 lead. With one last attempt, the T-Birds got shut down 1-2-3.
Sam Brummond (1-1) was given the loss with two runs given up with two walks.
Gannon White had two runs scored on one hit.
