Eagles cross country start season at Washington Co., Wamego

WAMEGO — Competing in the massive 60-plus team Wamego Invite with a shortened boys team, the Clifton-Clyde cross country team continues to start its season on a good note.

Cohen Girard led the boys’ team with a seventh-place finish with a time of 17:33.10. Isiah Jackson finished in 115th place with a time of 22:07.60. Broden Kolman finished in 129th place with a time of 23:02.30. Bryce Roberts of Sante Fe Trail won the boys’ race with a time of 16:52.90.

In the girls’ race, Kiersten Robbins was the fastest Eagle with a 92nd place finish with a time of 28:06.22, just beating out teammate Lille Crose, who finished in 93rd place with a time of 28:06.40, just 0.18 seconds slower. Avery Boydston of Ellis won the race, with sister Taryn Boydston finishing in second.

Starting the season at Washington County and picking up a top-three finish in the process, the Eagles’ cross country team is starting the season strong.

In the boys’ race, Cohen Girard was the fastest Eagle with a time of 18:05.32, good for third place. Striker Affolter was 23rd with a time of 21:10.36. Isiah Jackson was 40th with a time of 23:00.84. Broden Kolman was 50th with a time of 23:59.23. Ethan Sacco was 58th with a time of 25:13.17. Remy Girard was 64th with a time of 27:33.5. Logan Payeur was 72nd with a time of 30:52.61. Trace Harvey was 75th with a time of 31:26.93. Ambrose Childs of St. Mary’s Academy was first with a time of 17.55.43. The boy’s team finished in sixth place, and St. John’s was in first place as a team.

For the girls’ race, Kiersten Robbins was the fastest Eagle with a 29th-place finish with a time of 29:35.83, with Lillie Crose just behind her in 30th place with a time of 29:57.68. Ryah Bertuccelli of Osborne was first with a time of 22:24.68.
