In a rollercoaster of a basketball game with a shot clock for the first time, the Clifton-Clyde boys basketball team fell to Centralia 60-55.
It would take over five minutes for the Eagles to score their first points of the game, in which Centralia would open the game with a 12-0 run. The Eagles would keep the game close, closing the quarter down by five, 14-9.
The Eagles would own the second quarter, led by Jack Skocny, opening the stanza tying the game at 14 all and outscoring Centralia 12-4 to have the lead going into halftime 21-18.
In the third quarter, Centralia would snatch the momentum. After some back-and-forth, Centralia would start to pull away. Thanks to the inside game, the Panthers outscored the Eagles 21-11 to enter the fourth quarter with a seven-point lead, 39-32.
Skocny would keep the game close by himself, scoring 20 of the Eagles’ 23 fourth quarter points, including hitting a massive three point shot late, to make it a one possession game, but with foul trouble and fighting against the clock, Centralia would hold on to earn their third win of the season.
Skocny had a career high 34 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Trextin Koch had six points, and three rebounds.
Oliver Nobert had six points, five assists, and two rebounds.
