Panther golf hosts Concordia Invite, earns first place as team

In the lone home golf meet of the year, the Concordia High School boys golf team took home first place as a team, with the majority of the team participating in the meet.

Concordia won first place as a team with a six-man score of 316. Mason Rader of Marysville was first individually with a score of 74.

Luke Donovan was tied for third place with a fourth-place finish with a score of 76.

Lennon Ninemire was fifth with a score of 77.

Andrew Henderson was sixth with a score of 79.

Karson Lister, not a part of the six-man team, tied for 10th with a score of 81 for an 11th-place finish.

Baylor Knox was 13th with a score of 84.

Coleman Plymesser, not a part of the six-man team, tied for 13th with a score of 84 for a 14th place finish.

Peyton Retter was 24th with a score of 88.

Zak Allen was 26th with a score of 90.

Max Johnson, not a part of the six-man team, was 46th with a score of 103.

Bryson Sorensen, not a part of the six-man team, was 54th with a score of 130.

“The guys put in a good effort today,” said head coach Gene Rundus. “We need to stay away from three-putts, penalties, and big numbers like the snowman, but overall, I thought the varsity-six handled their emotions pretty well. All of this is just a dress rehearsal for regionals, but it’s always nice to win.”

In the best showing yet for the boys golf team, three Panthers finished in the top five, with one taking home a gold, and another taking home the silver medal at the Beloit Invitational last Friday.

Concordia was first overall, and won with a four-man score of 337, and finished second in the six-man, only behind Beloit by one stroke, with a score of 547.

Lennon Ninemire earned first place with a score of 79.

Andrew Henderson finished second with a score of 80.

Luke Donovan was fifth with a score of 86.

Baylor Knox tied for 11th place with a score of 92, and finished in 12th place.

Zak Allen was 16th with a score of 99.

Logan Jackson was 25th with a score of 111.

Splitting the normal varsity roster and with some JV stepping up, the CHS boys golf team competed last Tuesday at the Abilene meet at Stagg Hill in Manhattan and at the massive 20-team Nemaha Central Invite.

At the Abilene meet, the Panthers took third place with a score of 369. Marysville was first with a score of 344. Mason Radar of Marysville was first with a score of 78.

Baylor Knox finished fifth with a score of 86.

Peyton Retter tied for sixth place with a score of 87 for a seventh-place finish.

Coleman Plymesser tied for 27th place with a score of 98 for 28th place.

Bryson Sorensen also tied for 27th place and finished in 29th.

Max Johnson was 41st with a score of 121.

Grayson Farha finished 43rd with a score of 129.

At the Nemaha Central Invite, Concordia finished 10th with a score of 344, and Wamego was first with a score of 305. Marius Carlsen of Perry-Lecompton was first with a score of 71.

Luke Donovan was 24th with a score of 82.

Lennon Ninemire tied for 30th place with a score of 84 and was in 33rd place.

Andrew Henderson tied for 34th place with a score of 85, and was in 37th place.

Zak Allen tied for 59th place with a score of 93 and for 64th place.

Karson Lister was 66th with a score of 94.

Logan Jackson tied for 76th place with a score of 97 and 77th place.
