Panther tennis goes winless at NCKL meet

Posted

CHAPMAN — In a rough outing that didn’t see a single win for the Concordia High School girl’s tennis team, the Panthers competed at the NCKL meet hosted at Chapman.

In number one singles, Harley Weathersbee went 0-5.

In number two singles, Raylea Studt went 0-5.

In number one doubles, Jori Letourneau and Kinzee Motes went 0-5.

In number two doubles, Bailey Conner and Jazlyn Hendershott went 0-5.

“It was a warm windy day in Abilene,” said head coach John Turner.  “I felt like our girls played hard even though the scores do not show us winning. The girls had several matches across the board where they played to deuce. Jori Letourneau/Kinzee Motes are the only two girls that had varsity experience at league. The rest of the girls were returning from JV or first year players. We will be going to McPherson for regionals on Friday, October 10th.”

Heading to Wamego for the final regular-season meet of the year, the Panthers picked up only one win in the quadrangular.

In number one singles, Raylea Studt went 0-3.

In number two singles, Lyllian McNutt went 0-3.

In number one doubles, the duo of Jori Letourneau and Kinzee Motes went 1-2. After a 8-4 and 8-2 loss, the duo picked up the sole Panther win with an 8-3 win over Maggie Todd and Lauren McCart of Baldwin.

In number two doubles, the team of Alexa Jordan and Jazlynn Hendershott went 0-3.
