Finally getting back into the win column after seven straight losses, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team split a triangular with Pratt and Northeast Community College (Neb.).
In the first match of the day versus Pratt, the T-Birds lost 0-3, with Pratt winning set one 25-22, set two 25-22, and set three 25-15.
Zoey Sudbeck led in kills with nine, Iza Caroline da Silva, Tori Sanders and Elizabeth Schuster led in blocks with two each, Addyson Ogle led in assists with 31 and Brooke Lougheed led in digs at 11.
In the second match of the day against Northeast, the T-Birds were victorious 3-2.
After the T-Birds took the first two sets 25-18 and 25-23, Northeast took the next two sets 25-23 and 25-22. In a do-or-die set five, the T-Birds took care of business 15-9 to win the match.
Da Silva led in kills with 14, Schuster led in blocks with nine, Ogle led in assists with 33, and Carlie Carlgren led in digs with 26.
Hosting number 12th-ranked Barton Community College, the T-Birds got swept after two very competitive sets.
In set one, after a close first half that saw Barton lead 9-8, the Cougars would get the lead to 18-11 before Cloud got it to 24-22, with Barton taking set one 25-22.
In set two, after a back-and-forth start, the Cougars jumped out to a 22-14 lead, but the T-Birds fought back to make it 22-20, before Barton gave Cloud a 25-22 set two loss.
In set three, Barton took full control as the T-Birds ran out of gas, and fell quickly 25-11.
Kenadie Casanova led in kills with five, Carlie Carlgren, Zoey Sudbeck and Iza Caroline da Silva each had four. Addyson Ogle led in assists with 18. Elizabeth Schuster led in blocks with seven.
