In a fight for KJCCC West Division standings, the number 23-ranked Cloud County baseball team matched up with the Butler Grizzlies, with the T-Birds winning the series 3-1.
In game one at home, the T-Birds won 8-4.
The T-Birds started strong with three runs to start the day off, then picked up two more runs in the second inning. Butler got on the board in the second, and picked up a run in the third and two in the fourth to make it a 5-4 game. Cloud closed the deal with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to take game one.
Stocton Timbrook (3-1) earned the win, giving up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Matthew Evans and Joey Marino each scored two runs on three hits, with Evans tallying his fifth home run of the year.
In game two, the T-Birds won 10-0.
Cloud continued the momentum, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, before starting to cool off. The T-Birds scored four runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth, and two in the seventh, as the Grizzlies’ offense struggled to get on base, only having four hits and two walks for the entire game.
Caden Marcum (5-2) earned the win, with four hits and two walks given up, with five strikeouts.
Cam MaCleod had three runs on three hits, all home runs, with four RBIs. MaCleod now has a team-high 10 home runs on the season.
In game three in El Dorado, the T-Birds won 9-5.
The Grizzlies scored first with a solo run in the first inning, before Cloud took the lead with four runs scored in the second. The T-Birds picked up two more runs in the third, and Butler scored one to make it a 6-2 game. Cloud scored a run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to match Butler's scoring to take game three.
Noah Bourgeois (5-1) earned the win.
In game four, the T-Birds lost 7-6.
Cloud built a 6-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning. Butler rallied back to score seven straight runs, including three runs in the eighth to tie the game. The Grizzlies closed the game with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to avoid getting swept as Cloud took the series three games to one.
Hayden Malaise was given the loss.
